COURSE AND NEW CLUBHOUSE NEWS

It is another busy week at the clubhouse as the time for us to commence moving approaches.

The trenching and installation of stormwater along the Weeroona Road entry is now underway. This is complicated work due to the close proximity to the Viva energy pipeline, and all work is being done under Viva supervision. As this work extends the length of our entry road, services such as electricity and NBN are being installed at the same time.

Most of the vegetation along Weeroona Road has been slashed and cleared this week. Installation of screening and lighting, along with landscaping of the entry will occur once the stormwater is finished and the new road is constructed.

The ramp leading to the ground floor entry is currently being formed up which will give us access to the basement carpark when finished.

Gyprocking and patching of the ceiling on the lower ground floor has been taking place this week. The under croft outside the halfway house, along with the Pro-shop and lower-ground offices spaces have been completed.

Nearly all internal walls on both the ground and lower ground floor are now sheeted. Glazing on the ground floor is now commencing with windows to the lounge area and admin areas installed this week.

Some equipment for the kitchen and bar areas has been delivered. Exhaust hoods are being mounted in the kitchen area, and also the bar frame is currently being installed.

On the course lots of work had been done to bring two new holes into play. These are the 12th and 13th holes on the course masterplan, which will be in play from tomorrow.

Growth on the new 15th and 16th greens is coming along very nicely, and course staff are starting to reduce the height of cut on these greens.

The course received a much needed 50mm of rain earlier in the week over Sunday/Monday. This halted the coursework early on in the week, but since then Flemings have been able to trim the 16th fairway, and areas of the 15th fairway in preparation for line planting. Preliminary irrigation work has also been completed on the 15th fairway.

In front of the new clubhouse the practice chipping green is progressing, with drainage installed and the gravel layer spread on Thursday.

NEW Course Routing

As of tomorrow, Saturday 3 March 2018, a new course routing will be commencing. The new 12th and 13th holes will come into play, and we will be handing over the holes we are currently playing as our 1st, 2nd and 3rd to Flemmings so that they can commence stage 4 of the Eastern coursework. The 14th hole which we are currently playing as the 18th will be broken up into two par 3’s to make up the extra hole.

This new course will remain a Par 62. There are now no more greens that have to be taken out of play, so each time a new green is ready we will be able to remove temporary greens and increase the par of the course.

The major pennant team ventured to Roseville on Sunday. Unfortunately coming away with a 4/3 loss. Strong wins to Jack Snelgrove at 7, Paul Chillari at 5 and James Roper at 1. Alas we weren’t able to secure another point.

While the result was not terrible, it reduces us to only a mathematical chance to reach the playoffs.

We host the return leg this Sunday at 7am.

The team that will represent Strathfield this weekend, in alphabetical order is;

Dave Aramayo
Paul Chillari
Craig Delaney (c)
Jason Fanning
Matt Kelman
Jack Snelgrove
Sean Twomey
