COURSE AND NEW CLUBHOUSE NEWS

The construction of our new entry road is progressing. Our contractors have now worked their way down to the corner of the entry road, and have excavated this section to a depth of 500mm. This excavation will continue all the way to the entry ramp, and then continue around the corner and past the maintenance shed. Work has also now started on the on-grade carpark which will be located adjacent to the new 9th tees.

The steel support beams for the Porte Cochere were delivered this week and are currently being installed over the main entry of the club. This structure will be covered by a transparent fibreglass roof sheeting which will help protect the pickup/drop-off points of the club from inclement weather. A pedestrian ramp is also being formed up alongside the existing vehicle entry ramp.

The tiling of the lower ground floor changerooms is now underway. The tiles and finishes being used in these areas are looking great and will be impressive when completed.

In front of the pro-shop a garden bed has been formed up. The club’s flagpole will be painted and moved to this garden bed. Once finished the surrounding walls will provide somewhere for golfers to sit while finalising cards before entering them at the pro-shop.

The final stormwater line has been trenched and installed. This line runs right across the front of the pro-shop and terrace areas of the club and will pick up all rainfall from the roof of the clubhouse. With this now installed Flemmings can take over full control of this area and complete the shaping of the clubhouse surrounds. Click the video below to watch a flyover of the new clubhouse site.

On Monday two new greens were brought into play, our new 15th and 16th greens, which are now being played as the 17th and 18th holes. This has increased the Par of the course to 64, and the length from the white tees is now 4,251m.

Many new trees have been planted on the eastern side of the course and are primarily located around the new 12th, 15th, 16th and 17th holes to redefine the corridors of fairways which have been re-routed.

Turfing the surrounds of the new 17th green commenced Thursday morning. Currently the greenside bunker edges are being turfed, and this green will be ready to seed next week. Also on this hole the two fairway bunkers are being shaped up, along with trenching and installation of fairway irrigation. The video below shows the approach to this new green.

This week concreters have also commenced pouring the paths surrounding the clubhouse and practice facilities. These paths are being completed with a crushed aggregate finish, which will have a much higher quality look, and complement the clubhouse facilities better than standard concrete paths.

NEW COURSE ROUTING

A new course routing was brought into play on Monday 23 April 2018, bringing into play our new 15th and 16th greens. The course routing will follow the same route that we previously played. The 2nd and 6th temporary greens have been taken out of play, so we will play the new Par 5 3rd hole and Par 4 14th hole at their full lengths rather than being broken up into two shorter holes.

Our current first tee remains the same. As two temporary greens are being removed the new 12th green, which we are played as the 18th becomes the 16th green on this new routing.  From here we will play the 17th as a Par 4 to the new 15th green, then the new Par 3 16th green as the 18th.

This increases the par of the course by another two strokes to 64.

NO DRINKS CART ON THE COURSE

A reminder for members that due to Peter, our caterer, no longer being with the club there will not be a drinks cart on the course during the interim period until we move across to the new clubhouse.

We have organised to have a variety of sandwiches and wraps delivered daily which can be purchased before the round from either the bar or the pro-shop. We apologise for the inconvenience due to the timing of these events. The halfway house at the new clubhouse will be up and running as soon as we are operational from the new site.
