COURSE AND NEW CLUBHOUSE NEWS

The push is really on now at the clubhouse site. The builders have commenced night shifts to have the lower ground floor completed as soon as possible for us to commence the move across.

The road from the entry to the clubhouse has been laid with road base, rolled and compacted. This has also been completed for the on-grade car park. The concrete kerbing is in along Weeroona Road and is being completed around the car park today. The asphalt for the road and car park areas will be completed on the 22nd of this month.

Two large water tanks have been delivered and installed at the end of the maintenance shed. These tanks are required for our fire safety system, as the current water pressure we receive is not sufficient as per fire safety regulations.

On Thursday concreters poured the pedestrian access ramp, the vehicle exit ramp, and also the garden bed in front of the pro-shop. The flagpole was removed from its current location this morning and will be relocated to the middle of this garden. At the entry the Porte Cochere structure is in place and is currently being painted.

Much of the plant equipment to run our air-conditioning and other compressors has been delivered and is now in place on the roof of the clubhouse.

Inside the clubhouse the ceilings of the lounge/dining and pre-function areas are being gyprocked. In the dining area the frame for the Bistro servery is now in place.

Tiling of the locker rooms and lower ground floor lobby is nearing completion.

The new halfway house has been sealed and waterproofed. This is now ready to be fitted out over the coming weeks to be ready for us once we commence operating from the new site.

The pro-shop is coming to life. The new desk and fixtures have been delivered and are ready to be installed. Carpeting of the lower ground floor areas is scheduled for next week. In the pro shop the installation of the new golf simulators is nearing completion. As of Thursday these simulators were connected and working.

On the course the new 1st tees have been laser levelled and are ready for turfing. The putting and chipping greens have also been re-trimmed and are ready for turfing to commence. This is scheduled for early next week.

This week more turf has been laid on the new 17th fairway along with mulch being spread along the left hand side of the rough. The green which was seeded 10 days ago is now germinating and showing a nice even cover. Hopefully we receive another stretch of warmer weather over the next few weeks to help this green along.

The fairways of both the new 9th and 18th are now being cut down and are growing in very well. Wetland plants for the edge of the pond have been ordered and will be planted when they arrive.

MASTERS PENNANT

Last Sunday, 6th of May, we hosted the gun Long Reef team whose top 7 players total handicaps accumulated to 2.0.

Our boys gave hem a huge fright in a nail biting game, however they prevailed with a win 4.5 matches to 3.

Wins to Alvin Chai 4/3 at number 4 and Jim Georgiou 1up at reserve.

Gutsy performances by Yongjun Kim at number 1, Michael Cooke at number 2 and Peter Berg at number 7 who squared their matches. Courageous efforts by Keith Brough at number 3, Steve Ring at number 5 and Adrian barker at number 6 in defeat.

Overall an extremely commendable result for the team.

Next game is against Richmond at Richmond on Sunday 24th of May at 11:00am.

CONQUEST UPDATE

Conquest have begun excavation of the eastern section of the club car park. We no longer have access to this area for parking but have picked up some additional spots in the temporary car park that was previously used by Metro. If at times there are no available car spaces, there is a large area on the course towards the old 18th green that can be used for parking.

We are required to vacate our current clubhouse by the end of this month. The last part of course work on the eastern side is to level out the chipping area in front of the pro shop and at some stage in the next week or two this area will no longer be available for members.

A reminder for members that due to Peter, our caterer, no longer being with the club there will not be a drinks cart on the course during the interim period until we move across to the new clubhouse.

We have organised to have a variety of sandwiches and wraps delivered daily which can be purchased before the round from either the bar or the pro-shop. We apologise for the inconvenience due to the timing of these events. The halfway house at the new clubhouse will be up and running as soon as we are operational from the new site.
