RELOCATION TO NEW CLUBHOUSE UPDATE.

Power and water have been connected to the new clubhouse and are currently being tested. We cannot relocate without the Temporary Occupation Certificate which is now only dependent on testing of the fire services and sign off by the Fire Department and the pouring of some concrete outside the new proshop which was delayed by the heavy rain this week.

Unfortunately we can no longer extend our stay in the old clubhouse- Conquest have delayed full demolition for a further 10 days after the two month extension they initially allowed, but demolition of the external part of the building must commence next Tuesday June 12. This means we will no longer have access to the course from Centenary Drive and until we receive our Temporary Occupation Certificate we cannot enter the construction site or course from the Weeroona Road side.

We will relocate the proshop to the new clubhouse on Tuesday next week which means we will not be operable from either site on Tuesday and the course will therefore be closed.

At this stage we hope to be open from the new clubhouse mid to late next week but this is out of our hands and we are at the mercy of others. We will update members by email and the website as to how we are progressing.

COURSE AND NEW CLUBHOUSE NEWS

It has been an extremely busy and difficult few weeks. We would like to thank the membership for dealing with the ongoing disruptions as we get closer to transitioning to our new clubhouse. We handed over our old clubhouse to Conquest on the 1st of June. Prior to this most of the remaining fixtures were sold through an auction on Grey’s Online, and these items were removed early last week. All the administration, and any items that we are keeping were moved to the new clubhouse on Wednesday and Thursday of last week. Administration is currently only operating in a limited capacity at the new site. We have to sign in as visitors and wear high visibility vests to access our temporary office.

There is a lot of good news to report on the progress of the new club and course. As soon as we begin operating from the new club we will be introducing the new 9th and 18th greens into our course routing. The 9th will become a short Par 4 from temporary tees, and we will bring in the 18th green as a par 3. Once this happens we will only have one temporary green remaining in play. This will be the temporary green on the new 1st hole. Our new 7th hole will now be played as a Par 4 and the 11th hole will play as a par 5 to the old 15th green.

Our two practice greens were seeded on Monday and Tuesday last week. Even with the rain and cold weather these greens are already showing signs of germination. The bank in front of the function centre was also turfed last week.

The rain over the last week has caused a few delays, especially with the concreting of the clubhouse surrounds. The first section of the apron in front of the halfway house and pro-shop was poured on Thursday morning. This area will need to be poured in up to five different sections.

Earlier this week we had 30 new electric Yamaha carts delivered. The electric cart storage area has been cleaned and painted and is ready for the new carts once the concreting of the apron is done.

Last Thursday Ausgrid visited the clubhouse and commissioned the electricity. We now have permanent power to the lower ground floor and basement of the club. The builders are still working off temporary power on the ground floor. The water to the club was also connected earlier this week. These are two big items that were crucial in order for us to receive an occupation certificate.

The toilets and showers in the locker rooms are now working. The screens and doors were installed earlier this week. On Thursday the joinery and lockers started arriving onsite and are currently being installed.

Work on the entry road is continuing. The section between the new on-grade carpark and the maintenance shed has been graded. It is ready for road base to be laid, but this has been held up by the weather over the last few days.

 Pro-shop Phone

Due to the current relocation of the admin office and the installation of a new phone system, the direct line to the pro-shop is currently inactive. The phone number will be reactivated in a couple of days time.

In the mean time the pro-shop can be reached directly on 02 9053 1762.

MEMBERS Subscriptions

Membership subscriptions for the 2018/19 year have been mailed out and should arrive early next week.

This year whilst subscriptions for all categories have increased, the rates for current playing members will remain at the same level as previous years. A discount will show on subscription invoices to reflect the discount that current members receive compared to the new membership rates.

A number of changes have been made to the Limited Play Membership category. Limited Play members are entitled to 25 competition games on any day throughout the year, and social play on weekdays. Once these 25 competition games have been used members can play a maximum of 5 more competition rounds, upon which an additional fee is payable. This fee is equivalent to $20 for weekday competitions and $30 on weekends. If a member uses all 25 competition rounds and the 5 additional rounds, they will be no longer be eligible to play in competitions unless they upgrade to another playing category giving them eligibility to play competitions on the days they wish.

Limited play members who choose to upgrade their membership throughout the year will be charged the full differential to upgrade. This amount will not be pro-rata. Members should ensure they have rejoined in a category to properly suit their playing requirements rather than take the Limited Play option and then upgrading towards the end of the subscription year.

Currently the best way to make payment is via Direct Deposit. Once all operations relocate to the new clubhouse site the office will be available to take card and cash payment of subscriptions.

Bar Levy and Prizes

This is a reminder that all unused bar credit will expire on 30 June 2018, and will not roll over to the next financial year. Also prizes and golf balls won prior to 30 April 2018 also must be redeemed prior to 30 June. Prizes won from 1 May 2018 will not expire this year. Purchases can be made from the current pro-shop until Monday night and from the new clubhouse when open.

sTRATHFIELD EVENT CENTRE & FORTE CATERING

Father’s Day might seem like a distant date, but Forte’s executive chef and Pavilion Eatery/Strathfield Event Centre head chef are teaming up this week to go over the fresh, modern Australiana menu for the special day!

And since your ‘old man’ never asks for much, you’ll need to start thinking about what he wants for Father’s Day this year, because he likely won’t tell you.

Ultimately, there’s no gift more valuable than time well-spent with your dad, so why not this year, take your dad to Pavilions Eatery for a family fun day out.

A day at Pavilion Eatery will make an everlasting impression, and your dad will be smiling from ear to ear.
