Rule 6.3c\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n (1)\u00a0Making Stroke at Wrong Ball<\/u>. A player must not make a\u00a0stroke\u00a0at a\u00a0wrong ball.\u00a0Exception \u2013 Ball Moving in Water:<\/strong>\u00a0There is no penalty if a player makes a\u00a0stroke\u00a0at a\u00a0wrong ball\u00a0that is moving in water in a\u00a0penalty area\u00a0or in\u00a0temporary water:<\/p>\n Penalty for Playing\u00a0Wrong Ball\u00a0in Breach of Rule 6.3c(1)\u00a0<\/strong>In\u00a0match play, the player gets the\u00a0general penalty\u00a0(loss of hole):<\/strong><\/p>\n In\u00a0stroke play, the player gets the\u00a0general penalty\u00a0(two penalty strokes)<\/strong>\u00a0and must correct the mistake by continuing play with the original ball by playing it as it lies or taking relief under the Rules:<\/p>\n (2)\u00a0What to Do When Player\u2019s Ball Was Played by Another Player as Wrong Ball<\/u>. If it is\u00a0known or virtually certain\u00a0that the player\u2019s ball was played by another player as a\u00a0wrong ball, the player must\u00a0replace\u00a0the original ball or another ball on the original spot (which if not known must be estimated) (see\u00a0Rule 14.2<\/a>). This applies whether or not the original ball has been found.<\/p>\n\n
