Captain's Report

Monday & Friday - One Tee Start

Commencing in March, Monday and Friday open competitions will use a one tee start. The reason to re-introduce the one tee start is to attract players from other clubs who wish to utilise tee times between 8:30am and 11am.

Also commencing in march Monday open comps fees will increase by $5 for all players and will include a voucher for a schooner of house beer, glass of house wine, or soft drink from the main bar.

Monster Monday
Also commencing in March will be a monthly Monster Monday which will occur on the Monday following the monthly medal. This will be played off the blue tees and will be either a par or stableford format. Additional prizes will be offered, including a dozen golf balls for participants who play to their handicap (limited to top 7).

Grade Prizes
From March grade prizes will be determined based on the following daily handicap schedule;
A Grade + to 12
B Grade 13 to 19
C Grade 20 and over

Senior order of Merit Event
This year's Strathfield Senior classic (55yrs and over) will be played on 19 May 2020. This will be conducted as a shotgun start followed by lunch in the club. Including lunch entry for this year's event will be $45 for Members and $55 for Non-Members. Hopefully this format will attract more players.

Course Report

We have the had some extreme weather conditions to start February 2020 off. Within a 7-day period we had 43-degree temperatures and then 7 days later 100mm of rainfall. To date we have received 369mm in February.

The course was inundated by water mainly from the Cooks River breaking its banks and spilling onto the course. The end result was litter, debris, fallen trees, erosion and bunker damage. The course was closed for 3 days, with only holes 1-9 & 18 playable for most of this week.

The staff have done a tremendous job cleaning up the course and it is now completely open for play. There is still tree work, debris clean up in the rough and bunkers to repair in the coming weeks.

Overall the course has greened up substantially and now the task, is to keep up with the mowing. The rough will be a little thicker this week as it was too wet to mow and resources were prioritised to the clean up effort. We were able to mow greens, tees, approaches and fairways this week.

I think we have come out relatively well considering other courses in Sydney were closed for most of this week.

2020 Metropolitan Major Pennants

Hello All Members.

Not surprisingly last weekends first round was called off due weather. As there is no spare day to reschedule, Strathfield received a draw and therefore an away half point. By no means the worst result.

The team is unchanged;
Jason Fanning
Tim Green
John Kang
James Roper
Craig Delaney
Ed Burgess
Sam Wrigley
Res: Jay Bishop

We host Wallacia this Sunday at 7am, hope to see you there.
