We have the had some extreme weather conditions to start February 2020 off. Within a 7-day period we had 43-degree temperatures and then 7 days later 100mm of rainfall. To date we have received 369mm in February.
The course was inundated by water mainly from the Cooks River breaking its banks and spilling onto the course. The end result was litter, debris, fallen trees, erosion and bunker damage. The course was closed for 3 days, with only holes 1-9 & 18 playable for most of this week.
The staff have done a tremendous job cleaning up the course and it is now completely open for play. There is still tree work, debris clean up in the rough and bunkers to repair in the coming weeks.
Overall the course has greened up substantially and now the task, is to keep up with the mowing. The rough will be a little thicker this week as it was too wet to mow and resources were prioritised to the clean up effort. We were able to mow greens, tees, approaches and fairways this week.
I think we have come out relatively well considering other courses in Sydney were closed for most of this week.
