24 February 2017: Course Works

Posted on: 24 February

The third irrigation pump has arrived and been installed. To enable this to be connected we have had to completely disconnect our irrigation system for the week. Course staff are hand watering greens (from mobile water tanks) twice daily during this period to keep the greens alive. Please do not hit up on staff when they are watering.

From early next week town water will be re-connected and can be pumped into our holding tank. This will occur until such time as the submersible pump in the river is up and running and we can go back to using river water for irrigation.

The connections to the irrigation system had to go under the concrete path used by course staff to cross under Centenary Drive so this path has been dug up and will be relocated closer to the river, which will allow us to turf and grow grass next to the new 1st green. This will result in more landing room for shots missed to the left of the green, rather than having them run down the path and into the river.

The concrete path under the causeway has gone and irrigation pipes are being installed.

We have had to leave some machinery on the eastern side of the causeway as they are too wide and cannot pass through the narrow footpath members use to cross from one side to the other.

Once the irrigation is system is up and running and fully tested we will turf the whole area and seed the greens. We expect this to be done on March 6 and 7.

The bunkers on the right hand side of the old 10th fairway have been removed and the area leveled, This area will be turfed at the same time as the new works.

Our landscape architect, builder, course architect and clubhouse architects are meeting tomorrow to finalise plans for the practice chipping and putting greens adjacent to the new clubhouse. We hope to construct these whilst Flemmings are on site on the western side of the course. This work will not interfere with play.

COOKS RIVER WORK;

From Friday February 24 we will commence spraying out the noxious weeds in the Cooks River on the western side and also in the area in front of the current 18th (old 16th) tee where visibility has been reduced as the weeds have grown in height. These works will take place with monthly follow up spraying until we can get the creek in good shape and make it a feature of the course, not an eyesore.

COURSE WORKS EASTERN SIDE

We have finally received sign off on our DA for the eastern side of the course. Before works can commence we need to:

  1. Provide proof of payment of Councils damage deposit .
  2. Provide proof of payment of Councils Section 94A contributions
  3. Organise and send on Erosion and Sediment Control plans
  4. Organise and send on Dilapidation Report on all council assets.
  5. Organise and send Construction Traffic Management Plan.
  6. Send copy of Controlled Activity Approval from Dept. Of Primary Industries
  7. Complete Submission of copy of BASIX certificate.

Whilst we attend to these matters we will finalise the construction staging programme to make sure we provide the best workflow and course navigation possible.
