COURSE AND NEW CLUBHOUSE NEWS
Over the last few days trenching alongside the new clubhouse entry road has been taking place, and the trench is now complete along the whole length of the road. Stormwater pipes are being installed, along with a number of stormwater pits along the way. After the pipes are in place, the trench is being back-filled to a shallower depth before electrical and NBN services are installed.
The most noticeable difference at the clubhouse is that the external cladding is almost complete. The cladding of the soffit above the function centre began late last week. Due to the intricate curves in the design of the building this was a steady process, but now looks amazing . The soffit of the dining area is now nearly completed. Many more windows have also been installed, and the building is nearing the lockup stage.
Shaping of the putting and chipping facilities is ongoing. The construction of the the chipping green’s bunker is currently underway.
Additional sand and topsoil is due to be delivered next week for the new 9th fairway and practice putting green. This is the last load of soil that we are expecting. Once it is onsite the new 9th fairway can be completed.
This week Flemmings took over the area around the old 16th and 18th greens. This area is the last stage of work for Flemmings and involves the construction of the new 17th green and fairway. On Tuesday the two greens were blecavated, and later in the week the good quality topsoil was stockpiled to be used later on in the construction process.
Grow in of the new 15th and 16th greens is going well. These two greens are now being cut at 6mm, and will be brought down to the proper height of 4mm within the next week.
A great result for the Pennants Side last Sunday exacting revenge on Roseville for the weeks prior loss.
The team warmly welcomed back our Club Champ, Matt Kelman after his wife’s serious health issues.
Ably led by Jack Snelgrove and Sean Twomey, who had comfortable wins at 6 and 7 we posted an easy 5 1/2 to 1 1/2 win.
Combined with the top team getting beaten we now lie half a game behind in 2nd place with 2 rounds to play.
Those 2 rounds are this week away at Warringah, and then the return match home Sunday week.

Speaking of Matt Kelman, he is participating in the Mothers day 7 km walk against Breast Cancer, and will do it in a Mankini if $5000 is raised

MEN’S FOUR-BALL KNOCKOUT
The final of the Men’s Four-Ball Knockout will be played on Saturday 10 March 2018 with tee off at 11:28am.
This year the final will be contested by the pairs of John Cozens & Ron Caves, against Gerardo Callao & Toby Simes.
THIS SATURDAY 10 March – IRISH Four-ball
Please note the scoring method is different to the fixture book because of the abnormal number of par threes in our current course.
The Computer will correlate the singles stableford scores to calculate your Irish Medley Team score as follows.
For the first six holes it will be the best stableford score by one player.
For the second six holes it will be the best stableford score by two players.
For the third six holes it will be the best stableford score by three players.
There needs to be a minimum of three players in the group to compete in the Irish Teams event, if there are only two players they would compete in the singles event only. The pro shop will attempt to have a minimum of three players in a group wherever possible.

NEW COURSE ROUTING
From last Saturday we started playing a new course routing which has brought into play our new 12th and 13th holes. Currently there are still 5 temporary greens in play including the current 2nd hole. In the interest of player safety we request that all groups call up on this hole as soon as the group behind is on the tee. This will help minimise the risk of being hit up on while on the third tee.
New course hardware, including tee and distance markers, has been ordered and is currently being manufactured. During the interim until this arrives the course staff have put out white stakes/markers on a number of holes to indicate where the white tee distance on the hole is measured from.

INAUGURAL RAPHAEL GENNAOUI FUNDRAISING GOLF DAY
