COURSE AND NEW CLUBHOUSE NEWS
Yesterday Flemmings commenced turfing of the new 17th fairway and old first tee area. New irrigation had been installed in this area a few weeks ago, but could not be tested immediately as we did not have power to our irrigation satellite boxes. After waiting weeks for a new electricity meter to be installed at the old pro-shop this was finally commissioned on Wednesday morning.
With the second section of our entry road asphalted last week the builders have been working on the remaining section which accesses the maintenance shed and the loading dock area. This has been graded and compacted. A stormwater line is also being run underneath this road which will be concreted next week if we have clear weather.
Civil contractors have been working along both sides of our entry road. To the Rookwood side of the road formwork is being erected for a concrete dish drain. On the opposite side the area is being prepared for a pedestrian footpath and bollard lighting.
In the clubhouse joinery for the reception desk and bench seating in the café area commenced on Wednesday. The servery area in the bistro has now been closed up in preparation for cladding. The main bar and function bar will also be closed up next week. The builders have also had cleaners in to begin tidying up the completed areas of the club.
The cages for our warm up hitting bays were commenced on Thursday. This will provide us with five warm up nets in the space adjacent to the chipping green.
Around the clubhouse a number of areas are being prepared for landscaping including the garden area in front of the pro-shop. Our new local rules board has also been mounted in this area.
THE MEN’S FOURSOMES CHAMPIONSHIP 2018
Congratulations to Craig Delaney & Sean Twomey for winning this year’s Men’s Foursomes Championship.
Craig and Sean shot a morning round of 76 giving them a 3 stroke lead heading into the afternoon round.
A second 18 of 75 was good enough finish with a 5 stroke over Steve Ring and Tim Green who finished in second place with rounds of 81 and 75.
