Major Pennants – Sunday 10th March 2024

Major Pennants

I am thrilled to share some fantastic news regarding our Pennants side’s performance last Sunday. Our team truly rose to the occasion and made the club proud.

In a crucial match where we needed 5 ½ points to avoid a sudden death relegation final, our team stepped up and delivered precisely what was required. The momentum was set from the bottom of the order, with Oliver Craig and James securing victories.

A special mention goes to Paul for his exceptional play on the 18th hole, executing an approach shot that landed within a foot of the pin for a birdie and a 1 up result.

With Sam holding strong at number 1, it was imperative for Tim to produce, and as captains do, he halved his match, securing the win we needed.

What truly stood out was the great harmony, etiquette, and camaraderie displayed by the entire team throughout the matches.

I extend my heartfelt thanks to all those who came out to support us. Your presence and encouragement mean a lot to the team.

Let’s continue this positive momentum as we move forward.

Warm regards,

Steve Ring Manager

Following the victory Steve was presented with a small gift of appreciation thanking him for his contribution to golf at SGC. He has is stepping down from managing the Major pennants team following many years of service. During his time at the helm, we have won 2 flags.

Also bid farewell to the retiring, James Roper & Craig Delaney, who were presented medallions for their outstanding performance over the years.
