Eight Tips Guaranteed to Improve Pace of Play

– Members enjoy playing golf, but get frustrated when a round takes longer than it should.

The only thing worse than a slow round is no round! These tips aren’t about rushing; they’re about being ready to play and keeping the game enjoyable for everyone.

Top Tips:

-Play ready golf: Hit when you’re ready—no need to wait for who’s furthest out. Prepare in advance: Know your shot before it’s your turn. Keep moving: Drop your partner off and head to your ball; avoid sitting idle in the cart. Watch every shot: Helps locate balls quickly and saves time. Use a provisional ball: Avoid the dreaded walk back to the tee. Limit search time: You have 3 minutes—then take relief if needed. Score on the next tee: Not beside the green. Plan ahead: Carry extra clubs and balls to avoid backtracking. Don’t over-mark putts: Tap in short putts without delay. Stay aware: Monitor your pace relative to groups ahead and behind. Finally: If someone in your group is slowing things down, speak up politely. A simple “Let’s pick up the pace” works wonders. Remember—one slow player can hold up the entire course. Don’t be that guy!
