Western Districts Women’s Pennants
Posted on: 26 February

Strathfield Golf Club has proudly entered the Western Districts Women’s Golf Pennants for the first time in many years. With strong enthusiasm and increased participation among our female members, the club made the exciting decision to field a team in this year’s competition.
This handicapped pennant (8–23) includes clubs from across the district: Cumberland Golf Club, Oak Point Golf Club, Carnarvon Golf Club, Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club, Massey Park Golf Club and Cabramatta Golf Club.
Round 1 – vs Cabramatta at Cumberland
We opened our season with a strong and spirited performance. For many of our players, this was their first experience in pennant competition, and they rose admirably to the challenge.
Each match was closely contested, with our team showing great determination and camaraderie throughout the day. Supported by our enthusiastic caddies, Strathfield came close to securing a debut victory, narrowly going down 3–2 to a very strong Cabramatta side.
Round 2 – vs Massey Park at Carnarvon
Our second match proved even more challenging due to the number of shots we were required to concede. Despite the 4.5–0.5 result, the overall performance was outstanding.
Almost every match went down to the 18th green, highlighting just how competitive the contest was. Two of our players, who were giving away 10 shots, battled right to the very end — a tremendous effort under difficult circumstances.
All players and caddies have enjoyed two fantastic days of competition and have represented Strathfield with pride, sportsmanship and determination. The team continues to build confidence and experience, and we look forward to the rounds ahead.
