Dear Members,

On behalf of the Board, I trust you and your family are keeping well and you are enjoying everything the Club has to offer. The past 3 months have been extremely busy right across all areas of the Club and now we are transitioning towards another winter season.

I would like to take a moment to reflect on the course conditions, recent tournaments, membership, clubhouse, club trading results & our catering company. Clearly the investment in new drainage and irrigation systems across Holes 9 to 18 has resulted in a noticeable improvement in the sustainability and resilience of the playing surface, as it endured several days of heavy rain. The surface water quickly drained enabling us to allow golf carts out on the course. Plans for the completion of new drainage and irrigation on Holes 1 to 8 are well underway with contractors programmed to start the 11th of May.

Our club proudly hosted the 2026 NSW Amateur championship over the 27th – 28th January which saw 265 of the best amateur golfers from across the country and abroad take on our challenging course. The feedback from players, spectators, and officials was very positive, with many praising not only the smooth running of the event but especially the exceptional quality and condition of the course. Congratulations go to Sam and the entire greens staff, whose dedication over recent months ensured the course was presented in the best condition possible. A special thanks goes to General Manager, Glenn Phillips for arranging the tournament and Mark Reeve, who performed starters duties with professionalism and enthusiasm.

Events of this scale are only possible with the support of our dedicated members. We extend a heartfelt thank you to the volunteers who generously contributed their time:

Steve MacDonald / Martin Story / John Elter / David and Truda Rail
Sean Bullard / Patrick Kelly / Gary Daly / Ed and Lynne Walters
Murray Cassar / Patrick Pham / Steve Laurence / Andrew Cowley

Congratulations to our Major Pennant Team for claiming the 2026 Division 4 Title with a thrilling victory over Bexley, at the world class NSW Golf Club. Special congratulations go to Matt Delaney and Paul Lee, who both completed the entire preliminary season undefeated, a remarkable achievement at this level. The remaining Team Members are James Roper, Paul Delaney, Lucas Daher, Chris Sarkis, Victor Chieng.

The club extends its thanks to the Pennant Team’s caddies, families, supporters, board members, and volunteers, whose support-both home and away-helped drive this unforgettable journey. A special acknowledgment must also go to Team Manager – Steve Ring, along with assistant managers Gary Daly and Chris Scott, for their tireless work behind the scenes.

It will come as no surprise that demand to join our club has continued to grow rapidly. To maintain a fair balance between member access to timesheets and the ongoing needs of course maintenance, membership across all categories is now officially closed. From this point forward, all new applications will be placed on a waitlist and assigned a numbered position.

Recently we conducted the 2026 Member Survey, and it was pleasing that over 400 Members participated and the overall satisfaction level, was rated 87.25% which is the highest level achieved over the past 4 surveys. Your feedback and comments were constructive and helpful in giving the Board and Management areas to improve upon.

The Clubhouse is now almost 8 years old, and it is fair to say the cost of maintenance and upkeep on the building is much higher than we anticipated. The areas requiring attention include water leaks/penetration, air conditioning replacement, upgrading the computer system, wall and ceiling painting, electrical upgrades and the high cost of Club insurance. In terms of the overall financial results, it is pleasing to note that each month we are getting closer to breaking even. The increased revenue has come from Joining Fees, Visitor Green Fees, rental from our Caterer and Tenants.

We are pleased with how the relationship with our Caterer has positively developed, since their arrival in July 2024 that has consistently delivered excellent member and guest experiences, through the bistro, large events and corporate golf days. Our Caterer is planning more special member wine and dining events.

Finally, thank you for your continued support and respectful contribution to our Club. I look forward to seeing you around the course and in the Clubhouse.

Kind regards,

Robert Poynting
President
