Round 4 – Strathfield Host
Strathfield hosted Round 4 of the WD1 Pennant on Monday, 9th March. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who assisted on the day. We had volunteers on site from 6:30am, including starters, spotters, and helpers for breakfast and lunch.
The Pro Shop, Office, and catering staff were outstanding, and the day ran smoothly from start to finish.
Round 5 – vs Oak Point at Cabramatta
Round 5 we headed west to Cabramatta to take on the in-form Oak Point ladies. The matches were closely contested, and we came away with one win, a square, and three losses.
While the scoreboard may not fully reflect it, our team continues to build momentum with each match. With the ongoing support of our caddies and the club, the future for our pennant team is bright.
Round 6 vs Brighton Lakes @ Oak Point GC
Our team headed to Oak Point Golf Club on Friday, 20th March, to take on Brighton Lakes GC. It was a special day for the squad, with Joy making her debut in her first match alongside our regular players and supportive caddies.
Strathfield delivered an outstanding performance across the board, securing a convincing 4–1 victory. The team played exceptional golf, reinforcing that we are a force to be reckoned with in the years ahead.
Round 7 vs Cumberland @ Brighton Lakes GC
Our final Western District 1 match was played on Friday, 27th March, in bitterly cold conditions. Despite the chill, the team showed great enthusiasm and determination, taking on Cumberland, who sat third on the ladder.
It was a hard-fought contest, ending in a 2.5–2.5 draw. An excellent result that saw us climb to finish 4th overall for the season.
The day’s efforts carried into the evening as we came together to celebrate with a lovely meal, reflecting on what has been a truly special pennant season due to the voluntary efforts of so many supporters of our great club.
