Men’s Club Championship Finals – A Day of Determination and Dominance

The Men’s Club Championship finals were contested over 36 holes, and what a day it was! With fierce competition, remarkable comebacks, and standout performances, each division delivered its own story of grit and glory.

Championship Division

Lucas Daher defeated Craig Delaney 2 & 1

In a clash of generations, 17-year-old Lucas Daher triumphed over seasoned veteran Craig Delaney. Lucas, the Junior Champion in both 2024 and 2025, entered as the number 2 qualifier and showed maturity beyond his years. Craig, the number 1 qualifier and Club Champion back in 2002 (before Lucas was even born), put up a strong fight.

  • Through 8 holes: All Square
  • Through 18 holes: Lucas 4 up
  • Through 26 holes: Lucas 2 up
  • Final Result: Lucas wins 2 & 1

Lucas’s victory marks a new era, as the young star continues to build an impressive resume.

A Reserve Grade

Matthew Collier defeated Jason Lenord 6 & 5

Club Captain Matthew Collier, a member for 38 years, finally etched his name onto the honour board with a commanding win. As the number 1 qualifier, Matt showed consistency and composure throughout the match. Jason Lenord, also a top qualifier, showed true grit by competing despite illness.

  • Through 8 holes: All Square
  • Through 18 holes: Matt 1 up
  • Through 26 holes: Matt 4 up
  • Final Result: Matt wins 6 & 5

A well-deserved victory for a long-serving member and leader of the club.

B Grade

Chris Krombas defeated Robert Poynting 8 & 6

Chris Krombas, the number 1 qualifier and 27 years old, used his handicap advantage effectively to dominate the match. Club President Robert Poynting, a member for 28 years and a multiple Grade Champion, couldn’t hold off Chris’s momentum.

  • Through 8 holes: Chris 2 up
  • Through 18 holes: Chris 3 up
  • Through 26 holes: Chris 5 up
  • Final Result: Chris wins 8 & 6

A powerful performance from Chris, who now adds his name to the club’s championship legacy.

C Grade

Alex Tuteri defeated Steven Leeson 9 & 8

In one of the most dominant performances of the day, newcomer Alex Tuteri, a member for just 4 months, cruised to victory over crowd favourite Steven Leeson. With a strong handicap advantage and unwavering focus, Alex never looked back.

  • Through 8 holes: Alex 3 up
  • Through 18 holes: Alex 2 up
  • Through 26 holes: Alex 8 up
  • Final Result: Alex wins 9 & 8

A stunning debut for Alex, who made an immediate impact in his first championship appearance.
