Irrigation & Drainage

The team at Strathfield SWITCH Physio, located within the pro shop at Strathfield Golf Club, wanted to reach out following their opening week.
What a fantastic first week they had! A big thank you to everyone who came in for their FREE Swing Biomechanical Assessment and to those who stopped by to say hello, they loved connecting with so many members of the club community.
For those who have not booked yet, they’ve released a few additional spots over the next couple of weeks for their exclusive introductory FREE Swing Biomechanical Assessment. Availability is limited and filling quickly.
During your assessment, they will analyse:
- Your body’s movement patterns during the swing (rotation, weight shift, posture)
- Joint angles and positioning (hips, shoulders, spine, wrists)
- Muscle activation and sequencing
- Balance and stability throughout the swing
- Any physical limitations or mobility restrictions that may be affecting your swing
By identifying restrictions, asymmetries, and inefficient movement patterns, they can help you better understand what may be limiting your performance or contributing to any niggles. Improved mobility, better sequencing, and stronger movement control can support a more efficient swing and help you get more out of your game.
Only Saturday and Sunday appointments are currently available.

Irrigation & Drainage – Stage 2
Following the extraordinarily successful irrigation and drainage upgrades on Holes 9–18, and in line with member approval at the recent AGM, the Club will now proceed with the next stage of works across the remainder of the golf course. We will again be engaging Complete Pumps & Irrigation and Turf Drain Australia to deliver the project.
Project Timeline
- Irrigation Upgrade: Commencing May 2026, with an anticipated completion by December 2026
- Drainage Works: Scheduled from February 2027 through to May 2027
Once these stages are complete, our course team will undertake repair and turfing of any impacted areas, while also improving sections of the fairways as part of the restoration process.
Key Benefits of the Upgrade
Irrigation Improvements
- Precision Water Management: The new system will allow individual control of every sprinkler head. This enables us to deliver more water to dry areas while reducing irrigation in naturally wet or shaded zones, something not possible with the current system. The result will be more consistent playing surfaces across the course and more efficient water use.
- Reduced Breakdowns and Maintenance: Prior to Stage 1, irrigation repairs required up to 30–40 staff hours per week during summer. The new system will significantly reduce leaks, communication failures, and issues such as sprinklers remaining on or failing to activate.
- Improved Green Surround Conditions: On greens such as 4, 5, and 8, the current system waters both greens and surrounds equally due to 360-degree sprinkler coverage. The upgrade will allow independent watering of greens and surrounds, reducing excessive moisture in these areas and greatly improving playability.
Drainage Improvements
- Healthier Fairways: Faster removal of surface water will improve turf quality and consistency.
- Improved Course Access: The course will be accessible sooner after rainfall for players, carts, and maintenance operations.
- Fewer Closures: Enhanced drainage will reduce the number of days the course is unplayable following wet weather.
Proven Results So Far
The benefits of these upgrades are already evident. During this season’s hot and dry summer, more typical of Australian conditions than recent years, the upgraded areas have remained green, healthy, and in excellent condition, comparing very favourably with other courses across Sydney.
Similarly, following last week’s significant rainfall event (approximately 100mm in one day), the improved drainage performed exceptionally well. While debris clean-up prevented play on Friday, conditions by Saturday clearly demonstrated how effectively the course recovered and how well it played so soon after heavy rain.
These works represent a significant investment in the long-term quality, playability, and sustainability of Strathfield Golf Club. We appreciate members’ continued support and understanding during the upcoming stages of the project and will keep you updated as works progress.
