COURSE AND NEW CLUBHOUSE NEWS

The builders continue to push forward with the clubhouse in order for us to be operational by the 7th of April when we need to hand over the current clubhouse site. As the whole building will not be completed by this date this involves operating from the basement and lower ground floor. Golf Operations will be fully functional with the ProShop, change Room facilities, toilets, halfway house and 2 lounges areas complete. The access road and all parking facilities will also be complete. Thus members/guests will be able to use the amenities, play golf, grab a drink and have a food offering. We anticipate the Ground Floor will be operational by the second week of May.

Plumbing, electrical and air conditioning services are well advanced and this week the lifts have been installed. Pre-wiring for the AV & Security is also well underway as are the internal walls and gyprocking. The cool rooms and freezers are also currently being constructed.

Cladding the exterior of the building is progressing and well underway. The glass windows for the club have now been properly sized and ordered. The next milestone will be to complete the cladding and glazing so that the club is weather proofed.

The Stormwater work on the southern side of the building is complete and that area has been handed back to the club to start construction of the practice chipping & putting greens. Flemmings are likely to commence this work late next week.

The installation of the Sewer Pumping Station (east of the clubhouse) has commenced and will be completed by tomorrow. Following its completion the new 9th tee and fairway will be handed back to the Club next week allowing Flemings to start the remedial works for that hole.

Out on the course additional turf las been laid around the surrounds of the new 15th and 16th greens. The zoysia bunker edges are also currently being completed. The turfing of the 16th tee will be completed next week. Both these greens which were seeded only 10 days ago and are already showing good signs of growth with the seed sprouting and looking healthy.

The new 17th tees have been shaped and trimmed this week. Next week these tees will be laser levelled and then turfed.

Turf was also laid on the new 12th fairway where the old 17th green was located. Additional turf has also been ordered for the area in front of the new 13th green, and is scheduled to be laid on Thursday. From this point we anticipate that the new 12th and 13th holes may be ready for play in approximately three weeks from the time this turf is laid.

This Sunday the Mixed Pennants team will play at home against Richmond in round 3 of the competition. Tee off is from 11:36am.

We wish all those who are playing good luck, and hopefully the result will be a win for the home team.

Clubhouse carpark

On busy golfing days the builders have been putting out bollards and roping off sections of the clubhouse car park in order to have their workers utilise the overflow car parks and ensure that there are enough spaces remaining for golfers.

For those members who arrive early on Wednesday and Fridays when the bollards and tape is still out, feel free to park in this area unless there are signs advising otherwise.

COURSE Care

The reconstruction of the golf course is progressing nicely and we are now playing on a number of new holes. There is still lots of work to be done to tidy up areas that fall on the edge of work zones, but it is important that all golfers take extra care at this time to help maintain the new course to the highest standard.

This includes the simple but often overlooked tasks of carrying a sand bucket, filling divots, repairing pitch marks and raking bunkers. It is the responsibility of everyone who uses the course to ensure that these things are happening.

Please ensure that you are taking proper care of the course, and encourage playing partners to do the same. A little bit of effort from everyone will ensure that the course is maintained to its highest standard.
