COURSE AND NEW CLUBHOUSE NEWS

The construction of our new entry road has commenced starting at the northern end of Weeroona Road progressing towards the clubhouse entry.

The final pieces of cladding are being installed around several parts of the building, especially the northern entry side. Rendering of external walls is also continuing. In areas where the concrete Dincel walls retained a good finish, the builders have been able to render directly onto this surface. In other areas these walls are being sheeted with blue board to achieve a flat finish free of defects. This sheeting will then be rendered and painted.

The tiling of the lower ground locker rooms is now well underway. These areas are now one of the primary tasks the builder is working on completing.

The construction of the new 17th green and approach is well advanced. Although some soil deliveries were delayed early in the week due to the bushfires south of Sydney, the top layer of sand has now been spread and dressed. During the week additional greenside drainage was installed, along with shaping of the greenside bunkers. There are also two fairway bunkers that have been roughly formed near where the old 18th green used to be located.

Most of the concrete path that used to run along the right-hand side of the old 16th green has been removed, and the topsoil growing medium is currently being spread around the surrounds of this green. A new concrete path has also now been formed up on the left side of this hole. Currently the goal is to be turfing the surrounds of this green, and the practice greens next week. As soon as this is completed seeding of the greens will commence. Pouring of the concrete paths at both the 17th and clubhouse areas are due to commence next week.

Turfing of the new 18th hole was completed this week. The new 9th fairway has also been turfed to within about 100m of the tees. Currently the area to the left of the 9th tees, along our boundary with Ausgrid, is being prepared for the construction of an on-grade carpark which will provide an additional 38 parking spaces.

On Thursday the concrete pad for our practice nets was poured. This is located within the trees next to the practice chipping green and will provide us with a bay of five warmup nets.

New Course Routing

Starting from this Monday we will be playing a new course routing.

This will bring into play our new 15th and 16th greens. The course routing will follow the same route that we are currently playing. The current 2nd and 6th temporary greens will be taken out of play, so we will play the new Par 5 3rd hole and Par 4 14th hole at their full lengths rather than being broken up into two shorter holes.

Our current first tee will remain the same. As two temporary greens are being removed the new 12th green, which we are currently playing as the 18th will become the 16th green on this new routing.  From here we will play the 17th as a Par 4 to the new 15th green, then the new Par 3 16th green as the 18th.

This will increase the par of the course by another two strokes to 64.

NO DRINKS CART ON THE COURSE

A reminder for members that due to Peter, our caterer, no longer being with the club there will not be a drinks cart on the course during the interim period until we move across to the new clubhouse.

We have organised to have a variety of sandwiches and wraps delivered daily which can be purchased before the round from either the bar or the pro-shop. We apologise for the inconvenience due to the timing of these events. The halfway house at the new clubhouse will be up and running as soon as we are operational from the new site.
