COURSE AND NEW CLUBHOUSE NEWS

The clubhouse  builders are continuing to focus on completing the lower ground floor so that we can begin moving in soon. This area is starting to be cleaned and tidied up. Installation of lights and painting of these internal areas has commenced. Tiling of the bathrooms and lockers rooms will be commencing over the coming week.

Painting of the exterior is also an ongoing task. Today the builders have begun painting the soffit of the event centre, along with completing the painting of the under croft outside the pro-shop and several other external areas.

The forming and pouring of the paths surrounding the clubhouse will begin next week.

This week the new 9th green was seeded by course staff. It is vital that once a green has been seeded that it is kept moist to allow the seed to germinate. This was held off until after the Easter long weekend to ensure that the normal numbers of course staff were around in case there were any problems with the new irrigation around this green.

The new practice putting green was sanded this week. Flemmings are currently working on spreading topsoil around the new practice green complex. The new tee pads for the 1st and 9th hole have now been roughed out.

Turfing of the 9th fairway is continuing this week with over half of the new fairway now turfed.

New course hardware including benches, litter bins and ball washers, bunker rakes and tee markers have been ordered and have started arriving. Over the next few weeks this equipment will start being rolled out across the course.

Some new machinery for the greens staff has been ordered and is due to start arriving today. This includes a new surrounds mower which will give us a much better finish with all the undulations around our new greens. This will be used to mow the surrounds of the new 15th and 16th greens later today. A new greens roller will also be arriving shortly, which will also improve the result that our greens staff can achieve on the new putting surfaces.

The new 15th and 16th greens are coming along very nicely and are now not too far away from being ready for play. There is some turfing to be done on the new 16th hole before it is opened for play. It is estimated that these two greens may come into play in a few weeks time.

Monthly Medal Prizes

As an alternative to the large pewters that are awarded for winning a Monthly Medal event, the club now has 6oz (180mL) hip-flasks available with the club crest. Winners of Monthly Medals will have a choice of either the hip flask or a pewter as a prize. This is only available for the overall winner, not grade winners.

SINGLES KnockOut

Qualifying for the singles knockout will be conducted on Saturday 14 April and Sunday 15 April.

NO DRINKS CART ON THE COURSE

A reminder for members that due to Peter, our caterer, no longer being with the club there will not be a drinks cart on the course during the interim period until we move across to the new clubhouse.

We have organised to have a variety of sandwiches and wraps delivered daily which can be purchased before the round from either the bar or the pro-shop. We apologise for the inconvenience due to the timing of these events. The halfway house at the new clubhouse will be up and running as soon as we are operational from the new site.
