COURSE AND NEW CLUBHOUSE NEWS

Although we have experienced delays throughout the course of this project, at this stage we are still expecting to relocate to the Lower Ground Floor temporary accommodation by May 31. There are still a few items to be co-ordinated to allow this to happen and for us to be issued with a temporary occupancy certificate. All that is now required is for the fire department to test our fire prevention systems and sign off. Once we have confirmation that we can occupy the new building we will inform members of the date when we will commence operating from the new site.

The entry road and on grade carpark were sealed this week allowing us better access to the new clubhouse. There is still work scheduled to landscape and screen the Rookwood side of the road. Options for an impressive entry gate are currently being looked at and will be built at a later date.

The paths around the clubhouse continue to be formed and poured. Concreters will be onsite for the next couple of weeks to complete the paths around the clubhouse and also complete the area in front of the pro-shop and halfway house which was sealed this week. It will need to be poured in a number of sections.

The two areas in-front of the function and dining pods have been levelled, compacted and laid with road base. These sections will also be concreted next as a base for the synthetic grass which will be laid over the top.

HRC are now fitting out the halfway house area. Pre-fabricated benches have been delivered and are currently being installed. On Thursday HRC worked on the caterers prep area in our back of house area. Equipment for the halfway house that is necessary for us to start operating is also being delivered.

Carpeting of the required rooms on the lower ground floor has been completed this week. These areas include the rooms we will be using for our temporary members lounge and admin, along with the pro-shop. In the pro-shop slat wall and the counter have also been installed this week.

Earlier in the week Flemmings began working on the area along the Metro townhouses to the left of the new Par 3 16th hole. A small mound was removed from the left hand side of the fairway. Mulch is being spread along this area and additional turf will be laid to tidy up this area.

Turf was also delivered to complete turfing of the new 17th fairway. There is still lots of work to be done on this hole towards the 17th tee and the temporary carpark areas. Work will commence on these areas after we have ceased operating from this side of the course.

Clark Bosley has has joined our green staff team as a horticulturist. There are already several areas on the course where his expertise is evident. Having a horticulturist on board will be essential for the continued beautification and presentation of the course and clubhouse surrounds. Over the next couple of weeks Clarke will begin rolling out our new course hardware (sand bins, litter bins, etc.)

MOVING TO NEW CLUBHOUSE

At this stage we are still expecting to relocate to the Lower Ground Floor temporary accommodation sometime between May 28 and June 1. We need to relocate the administration, bar, members area and proshop during this period and there will no doubt be some disruption to current member services at times in this period and we apologise to members in advance.

It will be a complex logistical exercise trying to maintain service to members as much as possible during this period as the precise timing of the move is out of our hands, making planning difficult to say the least.

We will update members as to the “how and when” of the move as we get closer to the date.

MEMBERS LOCKERS

For all those members who currently have lockers, please be advised that all belongings must be removed by this Sunday, 27th of May. These lockers have been auctioned off and will be collected as soon as Monday next week.

Due to equipment from the old clubhouse being sold there will also not be any shower or locker room facilities available from this Monday until we relocate to the new clubhouse late next week.

SINGLES KNOCKOUT

The Final of the Singles KO match-play will be played this Saturday, 26 May 2018. It will be contested between Warren Brown and Anthony Saliba. Tee off for the final is scheduled for 11:00am.

STRATHFIELD EVENT CENTRE & FORTE CATERING

We are excited to introduce Strathfield Golf Clubs new dining experience, Pavilions Eatery – the fresh, modern Australiana menu designed to share. Offering delectable options for every type of diner, whether it be dinner with the family, a relaxed lunch or a quick bite to eat before your game of golf, you will not be disappointed by the professional service and food artistry offered.

CONQUEST UPDATE & PARKING

The excavation of our current clubhouse carpark is racing along. Due to this work we have lost the entire main carpark. On busy golfing days it is likely that there will not be enough parking available in the temporary carparks. If this is the case, please proceed to in the area close to where the old 18th green was located. There is sufficient room here to accommodate any overflow parking.

NO DRINKS CART ON THE COURSE

A reminder for members that due to Peter, our caterer, no longer being with the club there will not be a drinks cart on the course during the interim period until we move across to the new clubhouse.

We have organised to have a variety of sandwiches and wraps delivered daily which can be purchased before the round from either the bar or the pro-shop. We apologise for the inconvenience due to the timing of these events. The halfway house at the new clubhouse will be up and running as soon as we are operational from the new site.
